Friday Notes #44 — When Newsletters Die
When mental health takes over the newsletter adventure.

Losing followers is sad, but seeing newsletters die is really sad. That was my sentiment when I read this post from Jeff Perry, the author of the Tablet Habit newsletter. It felt like a blatant reminder of how fragile the newsletter endeavour can be.
I can see an infinite number of reasons why someone would create a newsletter. There is also an endless number of reasons why someone would put an end to the newsletter adventure. As you probably know, there’s this thing called “work & personal life balance”. Fitting time-consuming hobbies in our busy lives can be a challenge for many indie writers like us. Maintaining a bi-weekly newsletter is no simple task. It requires solid personal discipline. I know what I’m talking about as I’m writing this weekly newsletter on top of another monthly one.
I feel lucky to be able to reserve so much time for this hobby of writing and publishing. However, as a writer who spends a lot of time blogging, writing and content creation in general, I know how hard it can be to strike a balance.
I don’t know Jeff Perry, besides exchanging a few tweets publicly with him. I wish him the best, all the needed time to do, nothing, as he wishes.
